Full job description

KITCHEN MANAGER

Full-Time | Competitive Salary | Structured Role with Work/Life Balance

An established, independent hospitality business is seeking a highly organised, hands-on Kitchen Manager to take full operational responsibility for a busy café/restaurant kitchen.

This is a confidential recruitment process.

We are looking for someone who thrives on organisation, cleanliness, structure and accountability — someone who can run a tight kitchen, implement strong systems, and maintain consistently high standards across every service.

This is not just a cooking position. It is a leadership and operational role with full accountability for kitchen performance.

The Role

You will have full responsibility for the entire kitchen operation, including:

  • Leading day-to-day kitchen service with calm, structured control
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness and organisation
  • Implementing and enforcing clear prep systems and operational procedures
  • Managing stock control, ordering and supplier relationships
  • Controlling GP, margins and reducing wastage
  • Managing rotas, staffing levels and team performance
  • Ensuring due diligence, compliance and food safety standards are consistently met
  • Strengthening and developing the existing kitchen team

We are looking for someone who can bring stability, structure and consistency — and take genuine ownership of the kitchen.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Kitchen Manager or Head Chef (essential)
  • Strong organisational and administrative ability
  • High standards of cleanliness and kitchen discipline
  • Proven experience managing stock, budgets and kitchen financial performance
  • Confident implementing systems and holding a team accountable
  • Comfortable managing paperwork, compliance and due diligence
  • Level 3 Food Safety (essential or willing to complete immediately)
  • A calm, professional leadership style
  • A hands-on approach — leads from the front

This role suits someone who takes pride in running a well-organised, professional kitchen where standards are clear and consistently maintained.

Work / Life Balance

The business operates structured opening hours:

  • Mon–Wed: 8am – 4pm
  • Thurs–Sat: 8am – 10pm
  • Sunday: 9:30am – 2pm

This position would particularly suit a current Head Chef or Kitchen Manager seeking more structured, daytime-focused hours without losing leadership responsibility.

What You’ll Get

  • Competitive salary (based on experience)
  • Supportive owner-led environment
  • Real operational ownership
  • Stability and long-term opportunity
  • The chance to build and maintain a highly organised kitchen operation

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Application question(s):

  • Do you have over three years Head Chef / Kitchen Management experience?
