Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and passionate South Indian cuisine Sous chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise in Indian dishes, and a proven track record in food production within a busy hospitality environment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase authentic flavours and contribute to the success of our restaurant. The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising kitchen operations, managing food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to organisational standards
  • Lead and supervise kitchen staff, providing guidance and support to foster a collaborative team environment
  • Prepare and cook authentic Indian dishes, maintaining traditional flavours and presentation standards
  • Manage food production processes, including ingredient sourcing, portion control, and waste minimisation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across the kitchen
  • Train new staff members on cooking techniques, safety procedures, and customer service expectations
  • Collaborate with front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods

Requirements

  • Proven supervising experience within a restaurant or hospitality setting specialising in Indian cuisine
  • Extensive culinary experience with a focus on Indian food preparation and cooking techniques
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in a professional kitchen environment
  • Demonstrated ability in food production, menu planning, and kitchen management
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
  • Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is highly desirable
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation and quality control
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety
