Set in beautiful grounds with a cinema, fitness room, memory gardens, restaurant and bar, it is a home that residents, families and staff are rightly proud of.

Aura Care Living was founded on the belief that later life should be lived well. We invest in our environments, our people and our care and we're looking for a Unit Lead who shares that ambition.

THE ROLE

The Unit Lead is a pivotal leadership role at Stratton Court. You will take ownership of a designated unit ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered consistently, that your team is well-supported and motivated, and that each resident's individual needs are at the heart of every decision.

Reporting to the Deputy Manager and Care Home Manager, you will act as a senior clinical and operational lead on shift managing a team of Senior Carers and Care Assistants, overseeing care planning, and serving as a trusted point of contact for residents' families and visiting professionals. This is a role for someone ready to take genuine ownership and make their unit exceptional.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead and manage your unit on a day-to-day basis, setting the standard for care quality, culture and team conduct
  • Oversee and review individual care plans and risk assessments, ensuring they are current, accurate and truly person-centred
  • Supervise, mentor and develop Senior Carers and Care Assistants within your unit
  • Manage medication administration, oversee audits and ensure compliance with clinical governance requirements
  • Act as the primary liaison for families and external professionals on your unit, building trust and confidence
  • Support the Deputy Manager with staffing, rotas and operational planning for your unit
  • Monitor and maintain CQC compliance standards within your area of responsibility
  • Identify training needs within your team and work with the Home Manager to address them
  • Lead end of life care with sensitivity, dignity and the highest professional standards
  • Champion Aura's values care, choice, community in everything you do

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Level 4 or 5 desirable or actively working towards it)
  • Significant experience in a senior care or team leader role within a care home setting
  • Confident clinical knowledge — medication management, care planning, risk assessment
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop a team
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, assured manner under pressure
  • Experience in dementia and/or nursing care settings strongly preferred
  • A genuine commitment to person-centred care and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with digital care planning systems (training provided)

WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE

Starting from £18.00p/hr (flat rate, all days and shifts) | Welcome bonus of £500*

  • Fully funded NVQ Level 4 or 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care
  • Structured career pathway into Deputy Manager and beyond
  • Staff referral bonus of £400 per successful introduction
  • Free DBS check and comprehensive leadership induction
  • Access to Blue Light Card discounts
  • Flat rate applies across all shifts days, nights, weekends and bank holidays
  • Free on-site parking
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Employee wellbeing and support programme
  • A genuine seat at the table your voice and leadership will shape Stratton Court's future
  • Accommodation potentially available

*Welcome bonus paid in two instalments: £250 after 1 month, £250 on successful completion of probationary period. Subject to satisfactory performance.
