Full job description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Chef to join our friendly team at Scotch Dyke Residential Home, providing high-quality, home-cooked meals for our residents.

About the Role

Hours are week one- 8am until 7pm Monday, Wednesday, saturday and Sunday

Week two- 8am to 7pm -Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday.

You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious, and well-balanced meals for up to 24 residents each day. All food is cooked on-site using fresh ingredients, with menus tailored to meet individual dietary needs and preferences.

You will work closely with care staff to ensure residents receive meals that are both enjoyable and suitable for their health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook fresh, home-style meals daily
  • Plan varied menus with consideration for dietary requirements (e.g. diabetic, soft diet, allergies)
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Monitor stock levels and manage food ordering
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Work in line with residents’ preferences and nutritional needs

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Chef, ideally in a care home or similar setting
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (Level 2 Food Hygiene minimum preferred)
  • Ability to cater for special dietary requirements
  • A caring and flexible approach to supporting older people
  • Good organisation and time management skills
