Full job description

Are you looking for the next step in your hospitality career?

Crouchers is an independent, family-run four-star hotel set within beautiful countryside just outside Chichester, close to West Wittering. We operate two very different restaurants, giving our management team the opportunity to work across contrasting styles of service while developing broad hospitality experience.

We are looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to support our Food & Beverage Manager in leading both Potager Restaurant and the Cider House Kitchen.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has gained solid supervisory experience and is ready to step into assistant management, or an existing Assistant Manager looking for a broader and more varied role within a successful independent business.

We are looking for someone who sees hospitality as a career, enjoys leading people, and takes genuine pride in delivering excellent guest experiences.

The role

Working alongside our Food & Beverage Manager, you will help lead the day-to-day operation of both restaurants, ensuring consistently high standards of food service, customer care and team performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading restaurant service and supporting daily operations across both venues.
  • Supervising, motivating and developing the restaurant team.
  • Assisting with recruitment, induction and ongoing staff training.
  • Maintaining exceptional customer service standards and resolving guest enquiries professionally.
  • Helping manage rotas, staffing levels and labour efficiency.
  • Supporting stock control and ensuring company procedures are followed.
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and food safety.
  • Working closely with the kitchen and hotel teams to deliver a seamless guest experience.
  • Leading shifts confidently in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.

About you

We're looking for someone with:

  • At least two years' experience in a quality hospitality environment.
  • Previous supervisory experience with responsibility for leading a team, or existing Assistant Restaurant Manager experience.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • A calm, organised approach under pressure.
  • High standards and strong attention to detail.
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to lead from the front.
  • A genuine ambition to build a long-term career in hospitality.

What we offer

  • £28,000–£31,000 per year depending on experience.
  • 40-hour contract with paid overtime at your normal hourly rate.
  • Service charge typically ranging from £300–£500 per month, depending on the season.
  • Meals provided whilst on duty.
  • Company pension.
  • Staff discounts.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • The opportunity to work across two busy, well-established restaurants with excellent opportunities for future progression.

If you're passionate about hospitality, enjoy developing people and want to join an ambitious independent business where your contribution genuinely makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
