We're looking for an ambitious, hands-on General Manager to lead and grow our flagship Bakesmiths café on Whiteladies Road.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established, high-performing business while helping shape the future of coffee, flavour and beverage innovation by engaging with our wider Think Drinks Group.

We're looking for a passionate leader who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, understands the Bristol coffee scene, loves creating exceptional customer experiences and wants the autonomy to drive both business performance and future growth.

What you’ll be doing

Leading the Business

  • Identifying opportunities to increase sales, improve profitability and grow customer frequency
  • Leading from the front, visible on the floor and setting the standard for service, quality and hospitality.
  • Driving key performance measures including sales, customer satisfaction, labour efficiency, profitability and operational excellence.
  • Managing stock, purchasing, labour scheduling and site costs to maximise performance.
  • Ensuring compliance, food safety and health & safety standards are maintained at all times.

Building and Developing the Team

  • Recruiting, training and developing a high-performing team.
  • Creating a positive culture where people enjoy coming to work and delivering great service.
  • Coaching and supporting team members to develop their skills and progress their careers.
  • Ensuring clear standards, accountability and communication across the business.

Driving Growth and Innovation

  • Working with the Think Drinks team to trial and develop new coffee and beverage concepts.
  • Using customer feedback and sales data to help shape future product development.
  • Contributing ideas for promotions, events and new customer occasions that drive footfall and spend.
  • Helping establish Bakesmiths as a showcase location for innovative coffee and beverage solutions.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience as a General Manager within a coffee shop, café, restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Alternatively, an exceptional Assistant Manager ready to take the next step in their career.
  • A hands-on operator who enjoys being on the floor and leading by example.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, labour and profitability.
  • A natural leader who can motivate, inspire and develop people.
  • A love of all things coffee, food, great hospitality and a desire to create memorable customer experiences.
  • Curious and entrepreneurial, with an interest in helping develop new drinks and food offerings.
  • Capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy and ownership.
