Job Title: General Manager - Front of House

Location: Rural Buckinghamshire

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Starting Salary: £37,000 – £43,000 per year (Based on experience), regular performance based salary reviews + Tips

The Moogies Snapshot:

  • True Autonomy: No corporate cookie-cutter rules. Run this historic country venue utilising your entrepreneurial flair.
  • Diverse Remit: Lead a passionate team across a busy premium restaurant, traditional bar, guest bedrooms, and events.
  • Sustainable Hospitality: Work with a senior leadership team that genuinely values your work-life balance and development and cares for the environment.

Job Description

A successful and profitable pub, restaurant, and boutique hotel has many important ingredients—from incredible food and beverages to a motivated, expert team and the highest standards of hospitality. But putting all those ingredients together to create a thriving business, day after day, takes real skill. Are we talking your language?

We are Moogies, an independently owned group of two stunning country venues steeped in history, boasting a reputation for exceptional hospitality and a fiercely loyal clientele. We are looking to appoint a business-minded, floor-focused General Manager - Front of House to take ultimate responsibility for the day-to-day performance, revenues, and profitability of one of our beautiful Buckinghamshire venues.

Why Choose Moogies?

The key difference here is the sheer variety of responsibility and autonomy we’ll give you. You won’t just handle tactical day-to-day operations like infrastructure and staffing. As General Manager, you will have total operational ownership.

You will inspire your Front of House team, collaborate dynamically with the kitchen, and work alongside our sales and marketing team to drive events, functions, meeting rooms, and bedroom revenue.

A career with Moogies offers the perfect blend of independence, opportunity, and development, backed up by fantastic support from the very top. Always Being Mindful, we operate with a deep commitment to our local environment, charities, and sustainable practices. We create great performers who work with passion to deliver unforgettable customer experiences and a valued place in our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service & Hospitality Excellence: Lead from the front on the floor. Provide an exceptional welcome, manage customer feedback constructively, and swiftly resolve complaints to maximise guest satisfaction.
  • Commercial & Revenue Management: Drive financial targets, proactively maximise sales, and manage diary bookings to optimize venue space. Take full ownership of shift cash-ups, stock takes, and minimising wastage.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Coach, guide, and mentor team members. Partner with your colleagues to build efficient staff rotas, align labour costs with targets, and deliver continuous service training.
  • Venue Presentation & Cellar Care: Ensure the pub, restaurant, and bedrooms are flawlessly presented. Oversee strict cellar management, line cleaning routines, and vibrant internal marketing displays.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Maintain a hazard-free environment across the venue and gardens. Ensure rigorous adherence to statutory legal requirements and strict allergen controls.

What We Are Looking For:

This role will appeal to a current General Manager or a senior, ambitious Front of House Manager who is ready for a wider remit and true independent freedom.

  • The Mindset: You want to step away from corporate formulas and into a creative, independent company where you can input new ideas to maintain a competitive edge.
  • The Skills: Strong commercial acumen, exceptional leadership presence, and deep knowledge of premium food, drink, and bedroom operations.
  • The Standards: A sharp eye for detail, from a spotless front-of-house to immaculate individual appearance and rigorous compliance.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary (£37k–£43k) plus tips
  • Regular performance based salary reviews
  • Generous staff discounts across all Moogies venues (food, drink, and stays)
  • Real commitment to your work-life balance and sustainable working hours
  • Dedicated training, career development, and support from a highly collaborative senior team
  • Beautiful countryside working environment

To Apply:

We move fast. Once we receive your application, we’ll quickly assess it and – if successful – get straight back to you with the next steps.

Please apply via Indeed with your CV and a short cover letter explaining why you are the perfect fit to lead a Moogies venue.

Pay: £37,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
