About Us

We are a busy, high-volume hospitality venue in the heart of Bridge of Don, comprising an 85-seat restaurant, a 60-seat public bar, and a popular outdoor dining and drinking area. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional food, drinks, and customer service in a fast-paced environment. We are seeking an ambitious and driven Deputy General Manager to support the continued growth and success of the business. With being open for two years we are looking for someone to make their stamp for further years.

Position Summary

This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of a thriving hospitality business. Working closely with the owners on a daily basis, the Deputy General Manager will play a key role in driving standards, leading the team, developing the guest experience, and helping shape the future direction of the venue. You will also collaborate with our Social Media Assistant to support promotions, events, and initiatives that continue to build our reputation and grow the business.

This is a demanding but highly rewarding opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys variety in their day, and wants to make a genuine impact within an independent and growing business.

This is not a desk-based management role. We are looking for a hands-on leader who enjoys being on the floor, engaging with guests, supporting the team, and leading service from the front. The successful candidate must be capable of confidently running service independently when required and be willing to get involved in every aspect of the operation. This role offers significant responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to make a real impact within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the General Manager and business owners in the day-to-day leadership of a high-volume hospitality operation
  • Oversee service across an 85-seat restaurant, 60-seat public bar, and outdoor customer areas
  • Work closely with the owners to implement business objectives, improve operational performance, and develop new initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Assistant to support marketing campaigns, events, promotions, and community engagement
  • Lead, motivate, and develop front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences
  • Assist with recruitment, training, performance management, and staff retention
  • Manage labour costs, stock control, and operational efficiencies to achieve business targets
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, licensing, health and safety, and company policies
  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and service throughout the venue
  • Handle customer feedback and resolve issues professionally and effectively
  • Support the planning and delivery of events, promotions, and peak trading periods
  • Act as Duty Manager and assume responsibility for the venue in the General Manager's absence

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Deputy General Manager, Assistant Manager, or Senior Manager in a busy restaurant, pub, or hospitality venue
  • Proven ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong knowledge of restaurant and bar operations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing labour, stock, and operating costs
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and willingness to be fully involved in all aspects of the business
  • Personal Licence Holder and/or relevant hospitality qualifications desirable
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays

Additional Requirements

  • Must be a hands-on operator who leads by example and is comfortable working directly with guests throughout every shift
  • Proven ability to independently manage and deliver restaurant and bar service when required
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves and support all aspects of the business, from service and training to operational management
  • Strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package
  • Performance-related bonus opportunities
  • The opportunity to work directly alongside passionate and engaged business owners
  • A varied role with genuine influence on the direction and growth of the business
  • Staff discounts and meals on duty
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Career progression opportunities within a growing business
  • A dynamic, energetic, and supportive working environment where no two days are the same

Important: Please Apply Only if You Meet the Experience Requirements

Due to the nature of this role, we are seeking candidates with proven hospitality management experience in busy, high-volume restaurant, pub, or bar environments. This position requires someone who can confidently lead teams, manage service, make operational decisions, and step into all areas of the business when required.

Please apply only if you have relevant management experience within the hospitality industry and are comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on leadership role. Unfortunately, we will not be considering applicants without the required level of experience.
