If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an Assistant General Manager to join the team at The Lamb Inn, Shipton-under-Wychwood.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager, Duty Manager or ambitious Supervisor looking to take the next step in their hospitality career.

Working alongside the General Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the team, delivering exceptional guest experiences and helping drive one of the Cotswolds' most well-regarded pubs.

Many of our General Managers, Head Chefs and senior leaders have progressed through the business, and we're committed to helping ambitious people build long, rewarding careers in hospitality.

Our owners remain actively involved across all of our pubs, and our senior leadership team work closely with every site. You'll have the autonomy to make a real difference while knowing support is always there when you need it.

What you'll receive

  • 48-hour contracted week
  • Consecutive days off guaranteed
  • Rotas actively managed to avoid burnout
  • Christmas Day off guaranteed
  • Company pension
  • Staff meals whilst on duty
  • 25% discount on food and drink across all our pubs
  • Refer-a-friend bonus scheme
  • Twice-yearly company staff parties
  • Structured training and development programme
  • Genuine career progression across our growing group of pubs

The Role

As Assistant General Manager, you'll work closely with the General Manager to oversee the day-to-day running of the pub.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead from the front, inspire the team and ensure every guest enjoys warm, relaxed and professional hospitality.

You'll have real responsibility and the opportunity to make the role your own, while developing the skills needed to progress into a General Manager position in the future.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day operation of the business
  • Leading shifts and delivering exceptional customer service
  • Coaching, training and motivating the front-of-house team
  • Driving consistently high standards throughout the pub
  • Assisting with labour management, rotas and daily administration
  • Supporting stock control and ordering
  • Maintaining licensing, health & safety and food hygiene standards
  • Opening and closing the business independently
  • Taking responsibility for the pub in the General Manager's absence
  • Creating a positive, professional and supportive team culture

About us

The Lamb Inn is part of a small collection of highly regarded pubs owned by Pete and Tom.

Alongside The Lamb, we also own The Bell Inn, Langford, The Fox, Broadwell, The Sherborne Arms, Northleach, The Tivoli, Cheltenham & The Hawthorn, Shepherds Bush.

Our pubs have received national recognition, including GQ Pub of the Year, The Times Pub of the Year, and a Michelin Bib Gourmand at The Bell, which we proudly retained for five consecutive years.
