Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly capable Front of House Manager to lead our vibrant hospitality team. This pivotal role ensures a seamless dining experience for our guests while maintaining exceptional standards of service, presentation, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, a genuine passion for customer satisfaction, and a commitment to delivering memorable guest experiences. A solid understanding of food and wine service, combined with the ability to inspire and develop a team, is essential.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day front of house operations, ensuring service standards are consistently delivered at a high level.
  • Plan, prepare, and manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate coverage in line with business needs, seasonal demand, and budgeted labour targets.
  • Recruit, train, and develop front of house staff, fostering a positive, motivated, and high-performing team culture.
  • Instil a strong customer-first mindset across the team, ensuring every guest receives a warm welcome and outstanding service.
  • Conduct regular team briefings, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching.
  • Ensure excellent communication and collaboration between front of house and kitchen teams.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by managing guest interactions, resolving complaints professionally, and consistently striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor during service, leading by example and actively engaging with guests.
  • Oversee reservations, table management, and service flow to maximise guest satisfaction and revenue.
  • Manage stock control for beverages and front of house supplies, including ordering and supplier liaison.
  • Drive upselling opportunities, particularly within wine and beverage offerings, enhancing the overall guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all health & safety, licensing, and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor financial performance, including labour costs, wastage, and sales targets.

Wine Knowledge & Experience (Essential/Desirable)

  • Solid understanding of wine varieties, regions, and styles (e.g. Old World vs New World wines).
  • Ability to confidently recommend wine pairings to complement menu items and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Experience managing or contributing to a wine list, including pricing and supplier selection.
  • Knowledge of wine service standards, including correct glassware, storage, and presentation.
  • Confidence in training staff on wine knowledge and upselling techniques to improve the guest experience.
  • Formal wine qualification (e.g. WSET Level 2 or above) is highly desirable but not essential.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Front of House Manager or senior supervisory role within hospitality.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including rota planning and labour management.
  • A clear passion for delivering exceptional customer service and continuously improving the guest experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and driving revenue.
  • Experience in bartending and beverage service, including wines and cocktails.
  • Good understanding of food and culinary operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards.
