About Us:
The Ram Inn is a beautiful, independent country pub nestled at the foot of the South Downs in Firle. We have a long-standing reputation for exceptional food, an excellent wine list, superior service, and 8 boutique bedrooms. We operate with a wonderful team ethos and want to give our next manager the freedom to work in a way that suits them, backed by great coaching and support from the owners.

The Role:
Working closely with the Owner and Head Chef, you will be a hands-on leader responsible for all aspects of daily floor operations, staff management, and the guest experience.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the Floor: Deliver restaurant-standard food and wine service while maintaining a warm, welcome for casual diners and bar drinkers.
  • Team Leadership: Confidently manage, motivate, and rota a large team of enthusiastic young front-of-house staff.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaboratively set business strategy, maximise daily operations, and promote the pub alongside the business owners.
  • Guest Experience: Act as the ultimate brand ambassador, ensuring absolute guest satisfaction across the pub, restaurant, and boutique rooms.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven management experience within a premium, independent food led pub, restaurant, or boutique hotel.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of food and wine with an uncompromising eye for detail.
  • A calm, creative problem-solver who thrives under pressure and loves a busy floor.
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for mentoring young hospitality talent.

Requirements:

  • Driving Licence: A valid driving licence and your own reliable transport are essential due to our rural location.
  • Accommodation: Please note this is a live-out position; no accommodation is provided.
