Full job description

The Engineer Pub and Restaurant has been under the same independent ownership for over 20 years and forms part of the Fishermann Pub Group, well renowned in North Hertfordshire. Our pubs are all unique, offering a diverse drinks range, freshly cooked food, live sports, large outdoor drinking and dining, regular entertainment and above all, great customer service.

We are seeking an experienced, energetic and charismatic General Manager to take on the successful pub, restaurant and garden to drive the next phase of growth. You will be responsible for the successful running of all aspects of the business working closely with the directors of the pub group. We're looking for a person who views managing a pub as a lifestyle, not just a job, who will be as passionate as we are to make it a fantastic place socialise and work in.

As an experienced General Manager you will bring:

At least 3 years pub management experience

Positive energy and personality, someone who is always ready to welcome our customers

Passion for food and drink (eating and serving it!)

Calmness and a can do attitude in a busy work environment.

Leadership and teamwork to motivate and drive the existing team to deliver your business plan

Great communication, with every team member and customer

Extensive experience with people management, including recruitment, training, performance management, and career planning across all functions in the business including the kitchen

Proven ability to act as a role model demonstrating a positive approach to team morale and development

Ability to plan and maintain rota schedules to ensure adequate and efficient staffing levels in line with the labour budget

Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities

Attention to detail and exceptionally high service standards

Understanding of budgets, KPI’s and P&L management

Competence with Microsoft Office software

Current knowledge of compliance with Health and Food Safety procedures

Excellent command of English with the ability to communicate confidently

Proof of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom

What you will receive:

Salary £36k - £44k, depending on experience
