Pub Manager/Couple - The Lord Nelson, Scarborough

Full-time | 40 hours per week | Salary dependent on experience

The Lord Nelson in Scarborough is looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Pub Manager to lead our team and manage the day-to-day operation of the venue.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident hospitality professional who can create a welcoming atmosphere, maintain high standards and help drive the continued success of the pub. You will take responsibility for the smooth running of the business, from managing staff and stock to delivering excellent customer service.

A Personal Licence is essential for this position.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the pub
  • Lead, motivate and support the front-of-house and bar teams
  • Recruit, train and develop new and existing team members
  • Prepare staff rotas and manage working hours effectively
  • Maintain excellent standards of customer service at all times
  • Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally
  • Manage stock levels, ordering, deliveries and stocktakes
  • Minimise waste and maintain effective cost controls
  • Oversee cash handling, till procedures and end-of-day reconciliation
  • Help increase sales through promotions, events and excellent service
  • Ensure the pub is clean, safe and well presented
  • Maintain compliance with licensing laws, food hygiene requirements and health and safety regulations
  • Open and close the premises and act as a responsible keyholder
  • Work closely with the owners to meet business targets and improve performance

Essential requirements

  • A valid Personal Licence
  • Previous management or supervisory experience within a pub, bar or similar hospitality venue
  • Strong leadership and team-management skills
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Good knowledge of licensing responsibilities and health and safety procedures
  • Confidence managing stock, cash and staff rotas
  • A reliable, organised and hands-on approach
  • The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a busy environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays
