Full job description

£32,000 salary | 40 hours, Wednesday to Sunday | Plus service: realistic earnings around £36,000

Run 70+ weddings and events a year at one of the area’s most-loved gastropubs

The Crown Hawk Green is a busy, much-loved modern British gastropub with a thriving events business: more than 35 weddings and 35 private events every year, and growing. We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Front of House, Weddings & Events Manager to own every one of them, from first enquiry to final thank-you, and to lead our floor team day to day.

This is a great opportunity to take over busy events diary as well a building it up with new enquiries from our sales avenues. You’ll inherit a growing reputation, a beautiful venue that sells itself, and the freedom to shape the offer and make the role your own.

It’s a doing job, not a clipboard job. When there’s no events on, you’ll be busy on the floor with your team, greeting guests, waiting tables and taking orders, and you’ll also be the person a wedding couple trusts with the biggest day of their lives. If you love both sides of that, keep reading.

What you’ll do

  • Own our weddings and events end to end: enquiries, show-rounds, planning meetings, briefing the kitchen and bar, running the day itself, and following up afterwards.
  • Lead front of house day to day: manage, train and motivate the whole FOH team, and make sure everyone keeps on top of their duties through the shift.
  • Work the floor during service: waiting tables, taking food and drinks orders, checking in with customers at every table.
  • Drive sales by encouraging and modelling upselling across the team: specials, desserts, coffees, premium drinks.
  • Own the customer experience: handle complaints calmly and well, and turn good visits into great reviews.
  • Step up as Manager on Duty when the General Manager is away.

We’re a small business: everyone here gets stuck in with the daily tasks of running the pub, managers included.

You’ll fit in here if you

  • Have proven events management experience. This is essential: you’ll be running weddings, functions and private events from day one.
  • Have solid hospitality supervisory or management experience (pub, restaurant, hotel or dedicated events venue).
  • Lead from the front: happy assisting with daily restaurant service alongside your team, not just directing from the sidelines.
  • Are warm with customers, straight with your team, calm under pressure and organised behind the scenes.

What we offer

  • Up to £32,000 salary for a 40-hour week.
  • Service on top: realistic earnings around £36,000+ a year.
  • A settled Wednesday to Sunday working week, with Mondays and Tuesdays off, and meals on shift.
  • A genuinely beautiful venue with a wedding and events space you’ll be proud to sell.
  • A grown-up, supportive team and a growing business with real long-term opportunity.
