Assistant Manager – The George Inn

Full Time | Up to £35K + Tronc

The George Inn is looking for an ambitious, hands-on Assistant Manager to join our management team.We're looking for more than someone who can run great shifts. We want someone who loves hospitality, enjoys developing people, takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences and has the drive to help grow the business.Working alongside the General Manager, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our busy pub, restaurant and boutique hotel. You'll be empowered to make decisions, contribute ideas and help shape the continued success of The George Inn.If you're looking for a role where your opinion matters, your development is supported and no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.

The Role

As Assistant Manager, you'll support the General Manager in all aspects of the business, including:

  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the pub, restaurant and hotel.
  • Leading shifts to ensure smooth, efficient service and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Delivering outstanding customer service while confidently handling guest enquiries and resolving complaints.
  • Training, coaching and motivating the team to consistently deliver high standards.
  • Assisting with staff rotas, holiday management and team organisation.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation and service throughout the business.
  • Taking responsibility for the business in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Managing cash handling, tills and end-of-day procedures.
  • Ensuring company policies, procedures and operational standards are followed.
  • Monitoring sales performance and supporting the achievement of business targets.
  • Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety, food hygiene and licensing regulations.
  • Opening and closing the venue in line with company procedures.
  • Responding professionally to telephone and email enquiries.
  • Managing restaurant bookings and hotel reservations.

About You

You'll already have hospitality management or supervisory experience and be someone who enjoys leading from the front.

You'll also have:
