Full job description

General Manager – Busy City Centre Community Bar

We’re looking for an experienced General Manager to take the lead at our busy city centre bar. This is a proper, down-to-earth, working men’s-style venue with a strong community feel, loyal regulars and functions taking place throughout the week.

We need someone who understands that a great bar is about more than just serving drinks. It’s about knowing your customers, creating a welcoming atmosphere, keeping the team motivated and making sure the venue runs smoothly, even when it’s packed.

You must have previous experience managing a venue. We’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take ownership of the day-to-day operation.

The role will involve:

  • Managing the bar and leading the team through busy services.
  • Building strong relationships with regulars and the local community.
  • Organising and overseeing functions and events throughout the week.
  • Managing rotas, stock, ordering and cash handling.
  • Maintaining high standards of service, cleanliness and compliance.
  • Helping drive sales while keeping the friendly, traditional character of the venue.

The right person will be hands-on, reliable, confident and comfortable in a busy, lively environment. You’ll need to be able to have a laugh with the regulars, handle a busy bar and keep everything running professionally.
