Full job description

Our popular brunch restaurant is looking for a new general manager to join the family! You’ll be taking over from our current GM, and be continuing and building on her hard work in the quest to be the best brunch venue in London! It’s a fantastic time to join the brand, with big growth plans in the pipeline, we want you to join us on the journey.

Having featured on Sunday Brunch & ITV News, and winning 4 British Street Food Awards, here at Utter Waffle we work with fresh, local produce to create and serve our fun and innovative menu.

We’re obsessed with customer service, and our online reviews show it. Every time a customer walks in to Utter Waffle, we aim to create wow-factor in every element of their time with us, from first impression, to service style, food and even their departure. We hate to brag, but we’re allergy-experts. Utter Waffle is co-owned by a coeliac, and we pride ourselves on being the go-to venue for coeliacs, vegetarians, vegans and anyone suffering from any of the 14 main allergens.

Our restaurant is busy, but you’ll benefit from very few late nights, and regular weekend days off. Whilst our busy restaurant is our baby, we also have a vintage food truck, Reggie, who ventures around London at corporate and private events, as well as festivals, which you might be asked to support us on too.

Ideally you’ll have 5 years experience in hospitality, and at least 3 years in a management position. You’ll need to be as obsessed with customer service as we are, and be an ambassador for our awesome brand.

As general manager, you will be leading our FOH team in the following areas:

  • Managing reservations via Opentable
  • Running service, allocating sections
  • Ensuring Utter Waffle service standards up upheld
  • Training new staff and and ensuring the knowledge of our allergen system is in place, keeping customers and staff safe.
  • Working with the head chef to process FOH ordering and stock control. Ensuring the correct levels of stock, meeting demand but avoiding wastage.
  • Monthly stock take.
  • Driving daily sales and profit.
  • Creating the rota, managing holiday requests.
  • Submitting payroll to our finance team.
  • Reporting and analysing on finances and P&L
  • Keep looking for ways to make our restaurant life-changing!
  • Upkeep of our due-diligence system, fridge temperatures, food labelling etc.
  • Initial management of complaints, enforcing the complaints procedure.
  • Communicating with the owners any maintenance that needs undertaking at the venue.
  • Opening and/or closing the restaurant, locking up and arming/disarming the alarm.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Early finish times, with the restaurant closing at 4pm
  • 2 days off per week
  • Tips & service charge
  • Private Healthcare
  • Discounted Gym membership
  • Regular team socials
  • Free meals on shift
  • Birthday’s off guaranteed

  • Being an early part of a fast growing, and ambitious team - with huge amounts of opportunity in the near future.
