ABOUT BASCO

Basco is a premium Spanish food and drink importer, wholesaler, and ecommerce business based in West Yorkshire. We pride ourselves on sourcing exceptional ingredients, championing artisan producers, and providing outstanding service to chefs, retailers, and food lovers across the UK. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a highly driven Business Development Manager to accelerate new customer acquisition and maximise sales opportunities across multiple sectors.

THE ROLE

Are you a motivated, confident and commercially focused salesperson who thrives on winning new business? This role is 100% sales-led, focused entirely on identifying prospects, generating leads, converting opportunities, and building high-value customer relationships. You will be responsible for driving our growth across hospitality, foodservice, independent retail, wholesalers and specialist distributors, representing one of the UK’s most exciting Spanish food portfolios.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively source, identify, and convert new business opportunities across targeted sectors.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from outreach and pitching through to closing deals.
  • Conduct regular outbound calls, visits, and product presentations to build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Develop tailored proposals and recommendations using expert product and category knowledge.
  • Build long-term, profitable relationships with chefs, buyers, owners, and purchasing teams.
  • Attend trade shows, food events, and customer demonstrations to promote the Basco brand.
  • Work closely with the internal sales office to ensure smooth onboarding and account handover.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasting, and weekly reporting on pipeline and performance.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify new growth areas.
  • Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Proven track record in field sales, business development, or account acquisition—ideally in food, drink, hospitality, or FMCG.
  • Confident communicator with strong pitching, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Highly proactive, target-driven, and motivated by achieving and exceeding KPIs.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and present products with passion and credibility.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a busy pipeline and prioritise effectively.
  • Knowledge of premium food categories—especially Spanish or Mediterranean products—is desirable but not essential.
  • Tenacious, energetic, and commercially astute with a genuine hunger for growth.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Competitive basic salary up to £40,000 per annum.
  • Own sales commission paid monthly.
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays (increasing up to 33 days with length of service).
  • Monday to Friday working.
  • Company pension.
  • Laptop and mobile phone.
  • Mileage cover.
  • Employee discounts.
  • On-site parking.
