About Routes Coffee Roasters

Routes Coffee Roasters is an independent specialty coffee roaster based in Oxford. We supply cafés, restaurants, offices and hospitality venues with carefully sourced and expertly roasted coffee.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an organised and dependable Operations & Delivery Assistant to join our team. This is a varied role combining wholesale deliveries, customer support, order fulfilment and day-to-day operations.

You’ll be a key part of our team, helping ensure our customers receive excellent service and consistently great coffee. While coffee experience is important, we’ll provide training and support to help you develop the technical knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the role.

The Role

You’ll spend part of your week visiting wholesale customers across Oxfordshire, London and the South of England, delivering coffee, equipment and supplies.

This role is much more than driving and deliveries. You’ll act as a representative of Routes, building relationships with customers, supporting coffee quality standards and helping ensure our wholesale partners get the very best from our products.

When not visiting customers, you’ll work from our roastery helping prepare orders, organise stock and support the smooth running of daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Wholesale Deliveries & Operations

  • Deliver coffee, equipment and supplies to wholesale customers across the South of England
  • Pick, pack and prepare wholesale orders accurately and efficiently
  • Organise and maintain warehouse and stock areas
  • Manage incoming deliveries and stock rotation
  • Support production and roastery operations when required
  • Help maintain a clean, organised and efficient workspace
  • Ensure deliveries are completed professionally and on schedule

Coffee Quality & Customer Support

  • Build strong relationships with wholesale customers
  • Support customers in maintaining great coffee quality
  • Dial in espresso and grinders during customer visits when required
  • Conduct routine coffee quality checks
  • Identify coffee quality issues and communicate them to the Routes team
  • Provide basic guidance on espresso preparation, recipes and workflow
  • Support café teams in getting the best results from Routes coffees
  • Act as a knowledgeable, friendly and professional representative of the Routes brand

About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and takes pride in doing a great job. You’ll be trusted to manage deliveries, support customers and represent Routes professionally, so self-discipline and a strong work ethic are essential.

We’ll provide training on our coffees, quality standards and wholesale support processes, but we’re looking for someone who already has a solid foundation in coffee preparation.

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Previous barista experience
  • Comfortable dialling in espresso and making grinder adjustments
  • Friendly, professional and confident when interacting with customers
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work independently and manage your own workload effectively
  • Self-motivated and able to take ownership of responsibilities
  • Reliable, punctual and dependable
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving coffee sacks and wholesale orders

Desirable

  • Experience working in specialty coffee
  • Experience supporting or training café teams
  • Good understanding of espresso extraction and coffee quality
  • Experience in hospitality, logistics, warehouse or wholesale environments
  • Knowledge of coffee equipment maintenance and daily care
  • Experience building customer relationships

Pay: £29,000.00-£32,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company car
  • Employee discount
  • On-site parking
