Chef de Partie
Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa | Pott Shrigley, Cheshire, SK10 5SB
Full-time | 45 hours per week
Are you a passionate chef who takes pride in great food, loves working as part of a team and wants to develop your skills in a beautiful country house hotel?
At Shrigley Hall Hotel & Spa, we offer the opportunity to work in a truly distinctive setting. Our impressive Georgian country house sits within 262 acres of stunning Cheshire countryside, on the edge of the Peak District, with beautiful grounds, a championship golf course, an extensive spa and a busy hotel operation.
We are looking for a motivated and talented Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team, helping us deliver delicious food, consistent quality and memorable dining experiences for our guests.
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys being hands-on, takes pride in their section and wants to be part of a team that values high standards, teamwork and continuous improvement.
Why join Shrigley Hall?
Shrigley Hall is much more than a hotel. With a varied food offering, weddings, conferences, private functions and leisure breaks, our kitchens provide plenty of variety and opportunities to develop your experience.
You'll be working in a setting that offers:
- A beautiful country house location – work in an impressive historic hotel surrounded by acres of Cheshire countryside.
- A varied kitchen operation – prepare and deliver food for restaurant service, hotel guests, breakfast, lunch, dinner and a range of functions and events.
- A diverse menu offering – contribute to the delivery of traditional favourites and contemporary dishes, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and great presentation.
- A busy events and wedding business – gain experience in delivering food to different groups and occasions, where timing, teamwork and consistency are essential.
- Opportunities to learn and develop – work alongside fellow chefs, build your culinary knowledge and continue progressing your career.
- Team benefits – including meals on duty, discounts on hotel food and drink and spa treatments, free car parking and access to the cycle-to-work scheme, subject to applicable terms.
The role
As Chef de Partie, you'll take responsibility for your own section within the kitchen, ensuring that dishes are prepared, cooked and presented to the required standard.
You'll work closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chefs and wider kitchen team to maintain an organised, efficient and professional working environment.
You'll play an important part in ensuring that every plate leaving the kitchen reflects the quality and experience our guests expect.
What you'll be doing
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of your allocated kitchen section.
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Ensuring all food is produced in line with recipes, portion sizes and presentation specifications.
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, food safety and kitchen organisation.
- Supporting the Head Chef and Sous Chefs with daily preparation, service and menu delivery.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure smooth, timely service during busy periods.
- Monitoring stock, rotating ingredients correctly and helping minimise waste.
- Ensuring ingredients are handled and stored safely, with due attention to allergens and dietary requirements.
- Contributing ideas, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of junior kitchen colleagues.
- Maintaining a positive attitude and professional approach, even when service gets busy.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is passionate about cooking, proud of their work and committed to delivering quality every day.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as a Chef de Partie, Demi Chef de Partie or an experienced Chef de Partie-level cook ready for their next step.
- A genuine passion for food, flavour, presentation and delivering a great guest experience.
- The ability to organise your section and work efficiently during busy service periods.
- A good understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management and safe working practices.
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends and busy event periods.
Most importantly, you'll take pride in what you do, support your colleagues and understand that consistency and teamwork are essential to a successful kitchen.
What makes you right for us?
You'll be hands-on, enthusiastic and eager to make a positive contribution. You won't be afraid of a busy service, you'll take ownership of your section and you'll understand the importance of maintaining standards throughout every shift.
We're looking for someone who wants to develop their skills, learn from an experienced kitchen team and play their part in delivering food that our guests will remember for the right reasons.
What we can offer you:
- £30 per night - staff stays at our partner hotels, all situated in stunning locations with magnificent scenery.
- £55 per night – discounted stays for friends and family at our partner hotels.
- 40% discount on our spa’s within our portfolio –includes spa visits and entry. 15% discount for spa visits and entry for friends and family.
- 50% discount on food and drinks agreed upon visit.
- Cycle to work scheme.
- Free gym membership
- Generous Tip and Commission Scheme
