Briar Front of House Job Description

Briar is a West Country-focused small plates restaurant in Bruton, holding a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a place on the National Restaurant Awards Top 100 list.

We are recruiting two experienced and enthusiastic front of house professionals to join our team and help deliver warm, generous and efficient service to our guests.

This is a part-time role of 20–30 hours per week, with flexibility in working hours to reflect the seasonal nature of the business and varying levels of trade.

  • Competitive hourly rate plus tronc payments.
  • The role reports to the Restaurant Manager and Chef-Founder.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serving customers efficiently, promptly and warmly.
  • Preparing and serving drinks from our menu.
  • Operating our point of sale system and handling cash transactions.
  • Managing, controlling and rotating stock.
  • Carrying out cleaning tasks, including glass washing, waste disposal and maintaining the cleanliness of public areas.

Requirements

  • Basic wine and drinks knowledge preferred.
  • Previous front of house experience in a busy environment is essential.
  • A genuine passion for food, drink and hospitality is desirable.
