About Us

The Oak Barn Restaurant is a family-run, independent & top-rated 150-cover Restaurant & Bar in Mid Sussex. We pride ourselves on creating Rosette-standard modern British cuisine, combining timeless classics with contemporary flair. Our menus are seasonal, locally sourced & freshly prepared to order, with daily specials & catering for weddings, buffets & large group bookings.

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Temp Cover (35-45 hours) - Chef to join our team at The Oak Barn Restaurant in. This role is vital in ensuring our kitchen runs smoothly and continues to deliver the high standards our guests expect. Join us in creating delightful culinary experiences

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes following our recipes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to.
  • Assist in meal preparation during busy service times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.
  • Support the kitchen team in delivering excellent customer service.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to a positive team atmosphere focused on quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Qualifications
  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a restaurant setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods.
  • Good communication skills and team spirit.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different tasks as needed.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is preferred but not essential.
  • Passion for culinary arts and local ingredients.
