University Arms is a 192-bedroom design-led Hotel situated in the heart of Cambridge, United Kingdom. Overlooking Parker’s Piece is the Hotel’s quintessentially British Restaurant and Bar Parker’s Tavern, Library Lounge, and beautiful 272 square metre wood panelled Ballroom.

Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, University Arms is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING

Lead, inspire, and create! As Head Bartender at University Arms Hotel, you’ll craft exceptional drinks, deliver unforgettable guest experiences, and drive excellence behind the bar. If you’re passionate about mixology, love leading a team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this is your stage to shine.

THE DUTIES

  • Being the star of the show behind the bar, setting the standard for exceptional service and mixology mastery.
  • Crafting Cocktails, creating unique, Instagram-worthy concoctions and classic favourites that make us the talk of the town.
  • Lead and inspire the bar team, ensuring smooth operations and exceptional service.
  • Maintain stock, manage inventory, and ensure the bar is fully equipped and organised.
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members to deliver excellence at every shift.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards.
  • Engage with guests, providing recommendations and creating memorable experiences.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

  • Proven experience as a bartender, ideally with 3+ years in a high-volume or upscale environment.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a bar or hospitality setting.
  • Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beverage trends.
  • Experience managing stock, inventory, and bar operations.
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and responsible alcohol service regulations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to engage with guests confidently.
