Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, specialising in hot and cold food preparation and a dedication to delivering high-quality dishes. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talents in a vibrant restaurant environment, ensuring guests to enjoy authentic and beautifully presented meals. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene while creating an inviting dining experience.

Duties

  • Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, maki rolls, and other Japanese delicacies with precision and creativity.
  • Ensure all food preparation meets established quality standards and presentation requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the sushi station, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist Head Chef in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies and reporting shortages promptly.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service efficiently.
  • Keep up-to-date with current culinary trends related to Japanese cuisine and incorporate innovative techniques where appropriate.
  • Serve dishes to guests with professionalism and courtesy, providing excellent customer service.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in food preparation, particularly within Japanese cuisine or as a Sushi Chef.
  • Strong skills in cooking, meal preparation, and food safety practices.
  • Previous kitchen experience in a restaurant setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of culinary techniques specific to sushi making, including knife skills and ingredient handling.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Pay: From £12.71 per hour
