About Us

The Pony Chew Valley is a Michelin-recommended restaurant, event space, cookery school and kitchen garden set in the beautiful Somerset countryside. We are proud to be both professional and friendly, combining high standards with a supportive team culture.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic individual with a genuine passion for food to join our highly experienced kitchen team as a Trainee Pastry Chef.

This is an exciting entry-level, hands-on role working closely with our Head Pastry Chef and Chef Patron to create:

  • Seasonal desserts
  • Afternoon tea
  • Fresh breads
  • Pastry

This position is designed for someone eager to learn and build strong foundations in pastry within a small, supportive and ambitious kitchen team.

About You

No formal experience is necessary — however, you must bring:

  • A true passion for baking and pastry
  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Willingness to learn, collaborate and take feedback
  • Attention to detail and pride in your work
  • Reliability and commitment

Due to our rural location and working hours, this role would suit someone who does not rely on public transport.
