Full job description

Front of House Supervisor

Proto Artisan Bakery is looking for a supervisor to join our Front of House team at our established St Albans bakery.

We are a dynamic bakery who is passionate about sourdough with no nasties. Established in 2020 in Ware, Hertfordshire, we specialise in fresh sourdough and pastries, baked daily in our open kitchens.

We serve delicious coffees, hot drinks, pastries and breads and are a lively, local hotspot for customers to pop in and out, or to stay and socialise - our new team member needs to be familiar with customer service and be happy to run the Front of House on their own.

We will never get bored of saying “eat real bread” - we are looking for a new team member who believes the same.

Role & responsibilities

- Opening and closing the bakery - setting up, meeting highest standards of display, ensuring products ready, preparing the team, rotas and team management, health & safety responsibilities and closing down (preparing for following day's operations)

- Greeting and talking to customers

- Take customer orders and ensure you are able to answer any reasonable questions that they may have re: products and prices

- Prepare drinks as per customer requirements - barista experience would be a bonus!

- Maintain cleanliness and compliance with health and safety regulations in the bakery area

- Take customer payments and ensure customers leave the bakery satisfied

- Engage with customers, offering recommendations and sharing knowledge about our pastries, baking processes and offerings.

Requirements for the role

  • Supervisory experience in hospitality
  • Prior experience in a customer service or food service role is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail for food preparation and presentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends (Sat and Sun)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to maintain composed and professional at all times.

Salary, working pattern and benefits

Salary - starting at £28,000 FTE per annum (pro rata) depending on experience and contracted hours. RPH is based on over 21s. May offer up to £30k depending on experience.

Shift – Part time, flexible hours available, between 30 and 40hrs per week, must include weekend working.
