DELI ASSISTANT

Join Our Award Winning Farm Shop

Are you passionate about exceptional food and outstanding customer service?

Do you have a love of great food, delight in looking after customers and enjoy recommending the perfect accompaniments? Do you enjoy talking to people about great produce?

If so, we would love to hear from you.

Blacker Hall Farm are looking for a Deli Assistant to join our friendly team at our award winning farm shop. Our business is built around quality, provenance and craftsmanship and a real desire to look after our customers. Alongside our busy Deli, you will find our Butchery, Fishmongers, Greengrocery, The Barn Kitchen restaurant, Courtyard Kitchen takeaway and our newly refurbished Wine Room.

What makes us different is that we don't just sell food - we make it. Our craft Butchers prepare our meat offering, while our Chefs and Bakers create our award winning pies, cakes, biscuits and patisserie and many of the delicious products you'll find in our Deli counter. We take enormous pride in what we produce and we are looking for someone who shares that passion.

About the Role

As the face of our Deli, you'll do much more than serve customers. You will help create memorable food experiences, offer knowledgeable recommendations, introduce our customers to new products through sampling and share your enthusiasm for exceptional food.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Serving customers with warmth, confidence and genuine enthusiasm.
  • Building relationships with regular customers and delivering an exceptional customer experience every day.
  • Recommending products, suggesting food pairings and inspiring customers with new ideas.
  • Preparing and presenting beautiful, well stocked Deli displays.
  • Slicing meats, serving cheeses and deli products to order.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, cleanliness and presentation.
  • Working closely with colleagues across the farm shop to ensure every customer receives outstanding service.

About You

We're looking for someone who genuinely loves good food.

You might already be working in a Deli, farm shop, food hall or independent food retailer or perhaps you're an enthusiastic home cook with an impressive knowledge of great ingredients. Experience working in a fresh food environment is essential and additional experience working with deli product, charcuterie and cheeses would be a real advantage. Above all we're looking for enthusiasm, passion and a willingness to learn.

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, engaging personality.
  • Confidence talking to customers and making recommendations.
  • Knowledge of cheeses, charcuterie, fresh produce or fine food (or a real desire to learn).
  • An appreciation of seasonality, local produce and food pairings.
  • Pride in creating attractive displays and maintaining exceptional standards.
  • A positive, team focused attitude and the ability to thrive in a busy environment.

Why Join Us?

We believe the little things matter. Remembering a customer's favourite cheese, recommending the perfect chutney to accompany it, offering a taste of something new or taking the time to have a conversation, these moments are why our customers continue to return to us.

If you love engaging with people and want to be part of a business that celebrates quality, craftsmanship and exceptional customer service, we'd love to welcome you to our team.

Come and help us share our passion for outstanding food, every single day.

Apply in writing to recruitment@blackerhall.com. Tell us why you would be perfect for this role. We look forward to hearing from you.
