Store Supervisor — Yummies Deli

Mill Hill, NW7

£14.50/hour
Full-time (incl. weekends & bank holidays)

About Us

Independent Jewish-style deli & bakery in Mill Hill. Community-rooted, not a chain. Proud of our Jewish and Ashkenazi food heritage.

The Role

Step-up role covering Assistant Manager-level responsibility (no ASM currently on site). You'll lead the floor day-to-day — calm, fair, hands-on.

Leading the Floor

  • Run shifts independently
  • Allocate tasks across FOH & production
  • Run handovers, briefs & end-of-day updates
  • Onboard & coach new team members
  • Lead by example on teamwork & hospitality

Customer & Community

  • Warm, genuine customer interactions
  • Manage queues at peak times
  • Handle feedback with empathy; know when to escalate
  • Keep the shop welcoming & presentation-ready

Operations

  • Run opening/closing checklists & cash-up
  • Support rota planning & staffing
  • Coordinate stock with bakery & kitchen
  • Maintain merchandising & displays
  • Monitor waste & stock levels
  • Report maintenance/hazard issues

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Follow hygiene & allergen procedures every shift
  • Conduct on-shift hygiene/safety checks
  • Keep FOH & BOH clean, safe & compliant

What We're Looking For

  • Supervisory/team-leading experience (retail, deli, bakery or food service)
  • Strong communication & people skills
  • Empathy + confidence under pressure
  • Comfortable with cash handling, stock, scheduling
  • Reliable, well-presented, full-time incl. weekends
  • Interest in Jewish/Ashkenazi food culture (a plus)
