Job Introduction

Fanhams Hall in Ware, Hertfordshire, a part of the Exclusive Collection, is an exquisite 18th-century Jacobean country house set within historic formal gardens and a Japanese water garden. With its rich heritage, elegant surroundings, and distinctive character, it offers a truly unique experience for guests and team alike.

You will join us as a Food and Beverage Supervisor, helping to lead service across our restaurant, bar and events. Working alongside the Food and Beverage management team, you will bring confidence, energy and personality to every shift supporting the team, engaging with guests and ensuring each service runs smoothly.

This is a varied, hands-on role with a strong focus on dining and bar service, alongside weddings, celebrations and special events. It is an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership skills within a supportive and collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Food and Beverage management team with the daily delivery of restaurant, bar and event service.
  • Supervise the team on shift, creating a positive atmosphere and ensuring service is warm, polished and efficient.
  • Lead pre-service briefings, allocate responsibilities and make sure every area is fully prepared.
  • Welcome and engage with guests, anticipating their needs and confidently handling questions or concerns.
  • Oversee the flow and pace of service, communicating closely with the kitchen, bar and event teams.
  • Maintain excellent presentation and service standards throughout the restaurant, bar, lounge and event spaces.
  • Support the delivery of weddings, private dining, celebrations and other special occasions.
  • Develop strong menu, wine and drinks knowledge and help build the confidence of the wider team.
  • Train and support new team members, providing helpful guidance and feedback during service.
  • Assist with stock control, opening and closing duties, and the preparation of service areas.
  • Ensure food safety, allergen, licensing, health and safety, and company procedures are followed consistently.
  • Lead by example, remaining visible, calm and hands-on throughout every service.

Person Specification

  • Previous experience in a restaurant, bar or quality hospitality environment, ideally with supervisory responsibilities.
  • A genuine passion for food, drink and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • A confident and engaging communicator who enjoys working with both guests and colleagues.
  • Able to motivate and support a team while remaining hands-on during busy service.
  • Organised, proactive and calm under pressure, with the ability to adapt to different service styles.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistently high standards.
  • Experience supporting weddings, private dining or special events would be an advantage.
  • Professional, dependable and comfortable taking initiative.
  • A positive attitude and a natural desire to make every guest feel welcome.
