Full job description

We are looking for a weekend cook/chef to join our team at Johnsons of Old Hurst in our Tea Room and/or Batch/Production Kitchen. The tea room is a fast-paced environment which requires the ability to work under pressure, producing breakfasts, baguettes and homemade cakes and scones. The batch kitchen is in charge of making all of our home produced products that are sold in our farm shop on site.

Due to the location, access to transport or you own vehicle is essential.

We pride ourselves as a farm-to-fork business, with 90+% of the meat coming from the farm and everything else being sourced locally.

On-site we have a zoo/farm with over 200 animals, farm shop, a production kitchen, tea room & restaurant.

£PH depends on age and experience. Pay is bi-weekly every other Wednesday.

Duties include but not limited to: -

  • Setting up and closing down the kitchen
  • Assisting with preparation
  • Ability to assist and produce meals to order in a busy kitchen.
  • Cleaning the kitchen to a high standard at the end of shift
  • Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety
  • Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of a shift
  • Organisational skills
  • Knowledge of the standards of baking and cooking techniques
  • Ability to quickly learn new recipes and new cooking/baking procedures
  • Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly learn new recipes and new cooking procedures
  • Be a team player with infectious enthusiasm and a real passion for food.

The whole site is closed on a Monday, you will never be required to work a bank holiday Monday. We are also closed on Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years Day.

Casual/Part time/full-time role available. Daytime shifts. Weekends only.

Staff meals and drinks are provided.

Pay: From £14.00 per hour
