Stanwell House is an independent boutique hotel in the heart of Lymington, on the edge of the New Forest. We’re looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our kitchen team.

This is a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their chef career who is passionate about food, enjoys working as part of a team and, most importantly, is keen to learn and develop.

The role

Working alongside our Head Chef and experienced kitchen team, you’ll gain hands-on experience across our food operation, helping to prepare and deliver consistently high-quality dishes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the kitchen team with daily food preparation and service
  • Preparing ingredients and dishes to the required standards
  • Learning and developing skills across different sections of the kitchen
  • Ensuring excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation
  • Helping with deliveries, stock rotation and correct food storage
  • Following recipes, portion controls and presentation standards
  • Working closely with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams
  • Taking pride in keeping your section clean, organised and ready for service

About you

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine interest in food and wants to build a career as a chef

Previous professional kitchen experience would be an advantage, but attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn are just as important to us.
