Job Summary

DAY TIME HOURS - We are open 9am - 4pm

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled commis chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, support kitchen operations, and uphold high standards of food safety and hygiene. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts and hospitality to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. The commis chef will work closely with senior chefs and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and exceptional service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards
  • Support food presentation and garnishing to ensure visual appeal
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, adhering to food safety regulations
  • Follow instructions from senior chefs regarding daily tasks and special menus
  • Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly and stock levels are monitored
  • Support team members during busy service periods, fostering a collaborative work environment
  • Uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas

Skills

  • Experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen environments is desirable
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices
  • Proven ability to work efficiently within a team and support team management
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
  • Basic culinary experience with a willingness to learn advanced techniques
  • Previous restaurant or hospitality experience is advantageous
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to supervise junior staff when needed
  • Excellent communication skills, including serving customers when required
  • Ability to work under pressure during busy service hours
