Job Overview

The Side Bar is coming to Belfast this autumn….

The newest addition to Chichester Street, right next door to our sister bar The Garrick Bar; The Side Bar will be a new place to meet, eat, drink and settle in.

Expect cocktails, wines, spirits, local beers, Irish and Belfast Coffees – alongside a fresh coffee offering, sweet treats, charcuterie, provisions, small plates and plenty of features from our favourite local producers.

A modern Irish bar with a nod to the old ways: great drinks, food, music – and proper Belfast hospitality at the heart of it.

We are seeking energetic and personable Bar and Floor Staff to join our opening team! In this role, you will be the face of our venue, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere for guests while delivering exceptional service. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic environment, contribute to a fun-loving team, and be part of a thriving hospitality community.

Duties

  • Serve drinks efficiently and accurately to established specifications
  • Mix and prepare a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beers, wines, and non-alcoholic options
  • Engage with guests in a friendly, energetic manner to enhance their overall experience
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including stock levels and equipment
  • Handle cash transactions accurately using POS (Point of Sale) systems and manage tabs responsibly
  • Monitor guest behaviour to promote responsible drinking and ensure safety at all times
  • Serve food and drink to guests
  • Restock supplies as needed, including glassware, garnishes, and beverages to keep the bar fully operational

Requirements

  • Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant environments is preferred
  • Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating drink portions
  • Ability to multitask efficiently during busy periods while maintaining excellent service standards
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience with bartending or serving, with a preference for cocktail and/or barista experience
  • Knowledge of spirits, wine and cocktails is a plus
  • A positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset are essential for success
