Artist Residence Penzance is a relaxed, characterful boutique hotel, bar and restaurant on Chapel Street. At the heart of the house is The Cornish Barn Lounge, Bar & Restaurant — a warm, social space for guests and locals to enjoy good food, great drinks and easy, unpretentious hospitality.

We’re looking for a Bar & Restaurant Manager who genuinely loves hospitality — a natural host who enjoys making sure guests are having a great time. Someone passionate about food and drink, with a great eye for atmosphere, who instinctively knows how to make a space feel just right.

This is a hands-on, evening-focused role for someone who brings warmth, confidence and positive energy to the room, helping the bar and restaurant feel fun, friendly and relaxed — the kind of neighbourhood hangout where guests feel at ease and happy to stay for another round.

The Role

• Leading the day-to-day running of the bar and restaurant, with a strong focus on evenings
• Being visible on the floor during service, setting the tone, pace and ambience
• Creating a welcoming, lively atmosphere for guests and locals
• Managing and supporting the bar and restaurant team, leading by example
• Acting as House Manager / Duty Manager on selected shifts
• Welcoming hotel guests, supporting check-ins and handling guest queries
• Ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience across the lounge, bar and restaurant
• Supporting stock control, ordering and general standards
• Handling guest feedback with warmth and good judgement

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• Have experience managing a bar, restaurant, pub or similar hospitality venue
• Are a natural host who loves looking after people
• Are passionate about food, drink and great service
• Have a strong feel for atmosphere and how a space should feel
• Enjoy leading a team while staying hands-on
• Are confident being the senior person on shift
• Bring calm, friendly energy, even when it’s busy

• You have strong bar knowledge and enjoy cocktails and drinks service
• You’re comfortable flexing between bar, restaurant and hosting roles
• You enjoy helping shape busy evenings, events or seasonal trade

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
