Overview
We are seeking a friendly and professional Bartender to join our vibrant Roof Terrace for the Spring/Summer season and Six Bar and Brasserie Restaurant.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, serving high-quality beverages, and ensuring guests have an enjoyable experience. Previous experience in a restaurant or bar environment is preferred, along with a strong understanding of food safety and excellent time management skills.

A strong ability to prepare all classic cocktails is essential for this role.

This role offers an opportunity to develop your hospitality expertise within a dynamic setting. The roof terrace is an open space located on the top floor of the Varsity Hotel & Spa.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes and customer preferences
  • Confidently prepare all classic cocktails to a high standard
  • Greet guests warmly and take their orders efficiently, ensuring prompt service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, adhering to food safety standards
  • Check identification to verify legal drinking age and prevent underage sales
  • Manage cash register operations accurately, including handling payments and giving change
  • Restock bar supplies as needed, including glassware, garnishes, and beverages
  • Engage with guests to create a friendly atmosphere and promote repeat business
  • Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for both staff and guests

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in hospitality or serving roles, preferably within a restaurant or bar setting
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in making classic cocktails is essential
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and responsible alcohol service practices
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple orders efficiently
  • Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
