Weekend Front of House Host

Camborne | Saturdays & Sundays | £13.50–£14.50 per hour

We’re busy and we need someone who can take control.

We’re a busy, independent locals’ café in Camborne, serving proper restaurant-quality breakfast and lunch in a relaxed, welcoming café environment.

Our weekends are getting busier and busier, and we’re looking for an experienced, confident Front of House Host to take charge of the customer flow and help us deliver an exceptional experience, even when the café is full.

This is a hands-on role for someone who naturally takes ownership. You’ll be the person at the front who knows what’s happening across the room, keeps customers moving through smoothly and makes sure the whole service feels organised and welcoming.

What you'll be responsible for

• Welcoming customers and creating a great first impression
• Managing the flow of customers into the café
• Organising seating and making the best use of available tables
• Managing bookings, walk-ins and waiting customers
• Keeping an eye on table availability and helping maximise our seating capacity
• Communicating clearly with the kitchen and front-of-house team
• Keeping customers informed and comfortable when we're busy
• Helping the team prioritise and stay organised during peak periods
• Dealing confidently and professionally with customer queries or issues
• Making sure the café feels welcoming and relaxed, even when we're at full capacity
• Jumping in wherever needed to support the wider team

The person we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

Confident. Organised. Calm under pressure. Naturally hospitable.

You don't need to be overly formal, we're a relaxed locals’ café, but you do need to be someone who can take control of a busy room without making customers feel rushed.

Ideally, you'll have previous experience in a busy café, restaurant or hospitality environment and understand what good service looks like.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who sees what needs doing and gets on with it.

The hours

This is a weekend-only position, primarily covering our busiest Saturday and Sunday services. There is the option of working Fridays also.

8am to 3pm

This could suit someone looking for regular weekend work, or someone with hospitality experience who wants a consistent part-time role.
