Full job description

Front of House Supervisor / Assistant General Manager

About the opportunity

The Kings Head Inn, Brooke is looking for an experienced hospitality professional to join our Front of House team in a key supervisory role.

We are a busy independent country pub and restaurant with a strong focus on quality food, attentive service and creating a genuinely welcoming experience for our guests.

Alongside our restaurant and two bars, the business includes boutique guest accommodation and The Forge, our private dining and events space. We are therefore looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in high standards and is comfortable taking responsibility for a busy service.

This position would suit an experienced Front of House Supervisor, Restaurant Manager, Bar Manager or Assistant Manager looking for their next step.

Your role

Working closely with management, you will help oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the Front of House operation.

This is very much a hands-on position. You will be present on the floor, supporting the team and ensuring our guests receive friendly, professional and efficient service throughout their visit.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising restaurant and bar services
  • Leading and supporting the Front of House team during busy shifts
  • Opening and closing the premises
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of presentation and customer service
  • Welcoming guests and overseeing the overall customer experience
  • Supporting private dining, functions and special events
  • Training and developing members of the Front of House team
  • Dealing confidently and professionally with customer queries
  • Supporting stock management, ordering and cellar duties
  • Helping to maximise sales while maintaining excellent service standards
  • Working closely with the kitchen and management team to ensure services run smoothly

About you

We are looking for someone who is confident, dependable and genuinely enjoys hospitality.

Ideally, you will have previous supervisory or management experience within a pub, restaurant, hotel or similar hospitality environment.

You should be:

  • Comfortable taking responsibility for a shift
  • Confident leading and motivating a team
  • Friendly, professional and approachable
  • Highly organised with good attention to detail
  • Calm and solutions-focused during busy services
  • Comfortable working across both restaurant and bar operations
  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
  • Willing to get involved and lead by example
  • Commercially aware and able to understand the needs of a busy hospitality business

Previous experience with stock control, cellar management or private events would be advantageous.

A Personal Licence would also be beneficial, although this is not essential.

What we offer

  • Competitive pay
  • Tips in addition to your basic pay
  • Company pension
  • Free on-site parking
  • A friendly, independent working environment
  • Varied work across restaurant, bar, accommodation and private events
  • Opportunity to take on greater responsibility as the business develops

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to become an important part of an independent hospitality business rather than simply being another member of a large corporate team.

If you have a genuine passion for hospitality, enjoy leading from the front and are ready for your next challenge, we would be delighted to hear from you.
