Assistant Restaurant Manager

Location: Leeds Castle, Maidstone, Kent
Salary: £33,000 per annum plus tronc
Hours: Full Time, including weekends and bank holidays

Kestrel HR are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Graysons for an Assistant Restaurant Manager at the iconic Leeds Castle in Kent.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious hospitality professional to join a thriving catering operation within one of the UK's most prestigious visitor attractions. Set within the stunning grounds of Leeds Castle, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences for thousands of visitors, wedding guests, and event attendees throughout the year.

Working closely with the Restaurant Manager, you will help lead a busy restaurant team, ensuring excellent service standards, a welcoming atmosphere, and memorable guest experiences every day.

The Role

As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the restaurant while helping to drive service excellence, team engagement, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Restaurant Manager with the daily operation of the restaurant
  • Leading, motivating, and inspiring the front-of-house team
  • Delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high hospitality standards
  • Assisting with recruitment, training, coaching, and team development
  • Supporting rota planning and staffing management
  • Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and compliance
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and stock control
  • Working collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure seamless service
  • Handling guest feedback professionally and resolving issues effectively
  • Supporting weddings, private events, and seasonal hospitality functions
  • Managing the restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager

About You

We are looking for a hands-on hospitality leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and thrives on creating outstanding guest experiences.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a restaurant, café, hotel, or hospitality venue
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and customer service
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience coaching and developing team members
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
  • A proactive, positive, and flexible approach to work
  • Knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety, and hospitality best practices
