Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in food preparation and meal service, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for culinary arts and experience in a kitchen environment to develop their skills further. The role involves assisting with daily kitchen operations, preparing ingredients, and supporting the cooking process to deliver delicious meals in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation, including chopping, peeling, and measuring ingredients
  • Support the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from senior chefs or kitchen managers
  • Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are maintained throughout food handling and preparation
  • Organise and clean workstations regularly to uphold cleanliness and safety standards
  • Help with meal assembly and presentation to ensure appealing dish presentation
  • Assist in serving meals to customers or staff as required
  • Maintain stock levels by monitoring inventory and notifying management of supplies needed
  • Support the team during busy periods to ensure smooth kitchen operations

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment or culinary setting is preferred but not essential
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
  • Basic cooking skills with an understanding of meal preparation techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Friendly attitude with excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts as required, including weekends or evenings if necessary
