Job Description

We are recruiting now for our busy Christmas season, working within our historic and innovative business based in our cheese maturation rooms, and order fulfilment site in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire.

The successful applicants will perform a varied number of Cheesemonger duties, fulfilling our customer’s orders and ensuring our high quality standards are met at all times.

The Business

Paxton & Whitfield are a world renowned retailer, wholesaler and exporter of artisan cheese and fine food.

The company has been the UK’s leading cheesemonger for over 200 years and holds a Royal Warrant for King Charles III.

In addition to Paxton & Whitfield’s four retail sites, the Bourton-on-the-Water hub houses the cheese maturing rooms and supplies artisan cheese and fine food to customers through their website, as well as to many of the best restaurants and retailer’s around the globe.

The Role

We are looking for enthusiastic staff with great energy, a passion for food and attention to detail to join us in our cheese maturation rooms for our peak season. Responsibilities include:

· Cut, wrap and label cheese’s ready for dispatch to our online, wholesale and corporate customers.

· Learn about cheese, tasting it to ensure that the highest standard of quality is met.

· Assist in the maturation of cheeses within our cheese maturation rooms.

· Ensure all products are cared for in a manner consistent with our food safety and quality procedures.

· Assist in carrying out accurate stock takes.

· Assist in ensuring the cheese rooms are always clean and tidy.

· Ensure food safety procedures and health and safety policies are always followed.

· Assist the warehouse team when required.

Full on the job training will be provided.

Start dates available through from 26th October – 7th December.

This role will include weekend work.

Full-time and Part-time roles available.

Please note this is a temporary position until the end of December 2026.

Previous work in a food environment is environment is desirable, but not essential. An interest in cheese and a passion for food is essential.

We are running an exciting incentive: if you register your interest before 1st November 2026 we will give you a £50 voucher towards your Christmas cheese upon completion of your last contracted shift.
