Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Officer to oversee and promote health and safety standards across our organisation. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with legal requirements, fostering a safe working environment, and implementing effective safety protocols. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to organisational well-being while developing your expertise in health and safety management.

Duties

  • Conduct regular inspections of the workplace to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures tailored to organisational needs.
  • Lead investigations into accidents or incidents, performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety performance, incidents, and improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver training sessions on health and safety practices, including first aid procedures, to staff members.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and ensure all staff are familiar with evacuation procedures.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety measures and recommend enhancements where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training sessions, and corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in health and safety management or a related role.
  • Certification in first aid is essential; additional qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are highly desirable.
  • Strong report writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis techniques to identify underlying issues behind incidents or hazards.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with a commitment to fostering a safe working environment.

This role is integral to maintaining a safe workplace culture, ensuring legal compliance, and safeguarding employee well-being through diligent oversight and continuous improvement initiatives.
