Optimum Skills Construction academy are proud to operate as your gateway into apprenticeship opportunities alongside Bricklayers within the SR post codes (training period located in Gateshead). Pending a training period, on site opportunites are delivered in which one can build on their soft skills and form a career in construction.

As an Apprentice Bricklayer, your duties will initially include:

Performing set up and cleaning tasks.

Manual Tasks such as digging and unloading.

As time and trust progress, you will be entrusted with:

Roof replacements

Flat roofing

Brickwork

Brick walls

Repointing

Guttering

Fascia's

Concrete base

Footings

Garden walls

Requirements:

Measuring the work area and setting out the first rows of bricks (courses) and the damp course Mixing mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer

Laying the bricks on top of each other and applying the mortar with a trowel

Shaping and trimming bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools

Checking that courses are straight using spirit levels and plumb lines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £6.40 per hour

• 8 hour shift
