Full job description

Bell has an exciting opportunity for Time Served Painters to join our team for work in and around Chatham. This is a full-time, permanent role.

Job Purpose/Background:

To deliver high quality, snag-free painting, and decorating works in line with the project programme and health and safety rules on site

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Calculating the materials needed for a project
  • Advising customers on colour selection and choice of wall coverings
  • Reading specifications to determine required materials
  • Building and installing access equipment e.g. towers
  • Laying dust sheets to protect areas from paint
  • Preparing and cleaning surfaces
  • Repairing cracks and holes in walls
  • Removing old paint or wallpaper by sanding or scraping, or by using heat guns, liquid paint removers or steam strippers
  • Mixing and thinning paint
  • Measuring, cutting and applying wallpaper or fabric to walls
  • Mixing paint to an agreed shade
  • Applying paint, stains, varnishes and other finishes
  • Using brushes, rollers or spraying equipment
  • Tidying up and cleaning your tools
  • Working in clients’ businesses or homes

Key Requirements:

  • Have at least 2 years painting and decorating experience
  • Full UK Driving Licence and own vehicle, preferably with roof rack to carry ladders
  • Painting and Decorating technical knowledge
  • CSCS
  • Be comfortable working at height
  • Have own basic tools
  • Communicate honestly, effectively and professionally with Bell Group employees and clients
  • Have good communication skills
  • Adhere to safety rules on site, including wearing PPE at all times
  • Be reliable and trustworthy
  • Effective time management
  • Proven track record in high quality decorating
  • Able to snag own works before moving on to next area
  • Able to deliver high quality works in line with project program
  • Be able to work as a team and also alone on projects
  • Have a strong work ethic and take pride in what they do
