Product/Industrial Designer

We are expanding our in-house design engineering team DEXTRON Technology, to grow our range of industry leading cleaning machines.

We’re looking for a highly driven and talented Product/Industrial Designer to join DEXTRON, to focus on the development of parts and assemblies which make our machines come to life.

With access to our in-house prototyping facilities, including state of the art 3D printers and CNC machines. you will develop new product concepts from initial idea, through to fully proven machine prototypes. Having our own on-site injection moulding facilities means you will see your designs through to fruition, all under one roof.

The role is based at our head office in Sheffield.

Necessary experience:

  • Degree level qualifications in product design or design engineering related degree
  • Proven experience of developing products from concept through to production ready designs
  • Strong mechanical problem-solving abilities
  • Producing 3D printed parts and designing for other prototyping processes
  • Designing parts with integrated motors and electronics
  • Designing for injection moulding and die casting
  • Designing products for high volume manufacture
  • An eye for functional detailing to ensure product reliability and ease of use
  • Designing to detailed product specifications
  • Solidworks CAD – 5 years plus
  • Design of internal part architecture to support internal motors and PCB parts
  • Parametric top-down modelling
  • Large complex assemblies
  • Part and assembly configurations
  • Surface modelling and shelling complex geometry
  • Part and assembly evaluation
  • Design drawings and technical communication
  • General dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) on parts and assemblies
  • Evaluation and analysis of designs
  • Dealing with manufacturers across various production processes
  • Making tooling adjustments
  • Design refinement
  • Sample inspection
  • Strong communication skills through sketching and producing physical mock-ups
  • Design refinement, iteration, and optimization of parts
  • Refining ergonomics using CAD

Other useful experience, but not required:

  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) design
  • Sub-D Modelling
  • Structural part simulation
  • Management of CAD data and drawings using 3DExperience PDM file management

Working hours are:

8:30 – 5:00 Monday to Thursday,

8:30 – 4:30 Friday
