Responsible For

Supervising the day and night facilities team and general maintenance of the facility, painting, landscaping.

Working Hours

40 hours per week. 3 weeks on days, 1 week of nights. 5 working days, 8-hour shifts. 1 Saturday every 4 / 5 week.

Salary £29,08.40 PA

Purpose of the Role

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the building fabric, installations, and grounds are consistently maintained to a high standard, ensuring safety and compliance at all times. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role plays a key part in overseeing both reactive and proactive maintenance while ensuring all Landlord Hard Services systems are monitored and remain compliant.

Key Responsibilities

General Facilities & Maintenance

  • Maintain the centre to the highest standard at all times.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance tasks as needed, within competency.
  • Undertake preventative maintenance duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Perform maintenance tasks, including but not limited to painting, decorating, minor plumbing, minor carpentry, and marketing/event setup.
  • Conduct out-of-hours repairs, including tiling, painting, and floor graphics installation/removal.
  • Repair and replace fixtures such as toilet seats, door hinge protectors, and wall graphic stripes.
  • Investigate maintenance issues on behalf of contractors and liaise with meter readers.
  • Load and manage tasks on iAuditor when issues are identified.
  • Assist external teams when skips need filling or during large-scale waste removals.

Grounds & External Maintenance

  • Perform general groundskeeping duties, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and weed control spraying.
  • Maintain flower beds by weeding and seeding as required.
  • Control algae on flat roofs, spiral ramps, and external shaded areas.
  • Cut back saplings and ivy to prevent overgrowth.
  • Conduct leaf blowing on bridges and pathways.
  • Clean gully drains and undertake monthly flat roof gully cleaning.
  • Repair potholes using cold-lay tarmac or quick-setting cement.
  • Stack and organise barriers, including restacking when required.
  • Assist with installing and removing decorations, including Christmas installations (approx. 4 weeks).
  • Install high level flags for special events on gantries or bunting in lower mall areas.

Cleaning & Waste Management

  • Perform specialist and high-level cleaning, including ceilings, windows, shop signs, and floors.
  • Carry out graffiti removal and paint over affected areas.
  • Conduct regular cleaning machine checks, fault-finding, and staff training on safe machine use.
  • Maintain records of staff training and competency certifications.
  • Complete annual COSHH reviews for cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Manage bodily fluid kit checks and maintenance.
  • Assist with stacking and storing cardboard bales and other forklift-related tasks as needed.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all night staff complete designated tasks and uphold high standards.
  • Verify task completion according to the nightly Task Sheet.
  • Ensure staff comply with Health & Safety requirements and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Write new risk assessments and method statements as required.
  • Conduct monthly oil spill kit checks and meter readings for CCs.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, codes of practice, and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Assist with evacuations as needed and as trained.
  • Use restraint harnesses when cleaning bus ramp roof gullies.
  • Conduct annual storeroom cleanouts.

Pest Control & Security

  • Carry out pigeon control measures, including spiking, nest removal and replacing damaged netting.
  • Arrange pest control visits and pigeon control visits.

Contractor & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Direct communication with contractors and liaise with external & Night teams when required.
  • Oversee external staff appraisals and performance reviews.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage personal work schedules effectively, prioritising tasks based on urgency.
  • Install and remove extension leads as needed for events or repairs.
  • Support team members in two-man tasks, including installing new metal barriers, meter reads and events.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

· Experience of technical services desirable, qualification in one or more technical service beneficial.

· Experience managing a team of 5+ delegates to include performance management.

· Shopping Centre facilities operations experience desirable but not essential.

· Experience of completing maintenance duties to a good level.

· Knowledge of Legionella control desirable but not essential.

· Asbestos awareness desirable but not essential.

· IPAF/PASMA/Forklift qualifications desirable however full training can be offered.

· SIA DS / CCTV preferred but will be provided.

· First aid certificate preferred but will be provided.

· IOSH at minimum, certificate or renewed in the last 3 years.

· COSHH Trained

· Commercial Painting experience.

· Ground working experience desirable.

· Landscaping experience desirable c/w use of associated equipment for maintaining however full training can be offered.

· Punctual, proactive and professional.
