We are looking for a Maintenance Team Operative at the Wykeham Estate, near Scarborough. The Maintenance Team is responsible for the continual maintenance, reactive and planned, together with the repair of the build property on the Estate, including the principal house, together with the let residential and commercial properties.

Dawnay Estates consists of two Estates, Wykeham and Danby. The Wykeham Estate includes the principal house, 120 residential properties, 17 commercial units based in converted agricultural buildings and 11 workshops spaces. All are regularly maintained to provide good quality accommodation for letting. There are 18 tenanted farms across the Estate.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Property Maintenance Manager the role will be based at the Wykeham Estate where you will be part of a small team, dedicated maintenance team carrying out repairs, together with reactive and planned works to maintain and enhance the Estate properties. You will be required to work alongside, and at times co-ordinate sub-contractors.

The role is varied with no two days being the same. The ability to multi-skill and multi-task will be a great advantage due to the variation in the work which includes:

  • Joinery work
  • General building works
  • Preparation work
  • Plastering work
  • Bricklaying
  • Drain clearance
  • Gutter clearance
  • General maintenance
  • Other duties to keep the Estate tidy and in good order

Due to the varied nature of the work, you should have a good understanding of construction and be able to work with other trades, combined with the ability and desire to undertake a wide range of repair works. Plumbing, electrical, roofing and decoration works are carried out by others.

You must have a current driving licence.

Skills in:

Being able to carry out a variety of tasks is more important than a single trade, however, there will be a focus on joinery works.

An acceptance to do all types of work with the skill to undertake general building work i.e. joinery, plastering, bricklaying etc.

Ability to:

Work safely and in line with the Estates Health and Safety Policies.

The role will involve being 'on call' in the case of a maintenance emergency, although this is not a frequent occurrence.

Pay: £32,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
