Shield Southern Ltd is a specialist roofing contractor delivering new-build residential projects for leading national housebuilders across the South of England. We are looking for someone to take ownership of the estimating and commercial side of the business.

This is not a pure estimating role. Working closely with the directors, you will inherit established client relationships, taking tenders from enquiry stage through to final account.

What you'll own

• Pricing work: reviewing drawings and specifications, completing take-offs, and producing accurate, competitive tenders
• Winning work: managing enquiries through to award, raising tender queries, agreeing clarifications, and negotiating directly with clients
• Holding client relationships: you will be handed our existing accounts with national housebuilders and will be the day-to-day commercial contact
• Commercial management of live projects: payment applications, variations, final accounts, and job costing, supported by our finance team
• Contract review: reading terms, identifying commercial and technical risk, and flagging it before we accept
• Handover and support: preparing clear information for Contracts Managers, and supporting sites when drawings or requirements change
• Running the office day to day, and managing several tenders and deadlines at once

You will have a junior estimator supporting you with take-offs and pricing.

What we're looking for

Strong estimating experience is the foundation, but we are equally interested in the commercial side: whether you can price a job, win it, manage it commercially, and close it out properly.

You'll likely have:

• Construction estimating and tender preparation experience, with confident take-off and pricing ability
• Experience managing projects commercially - applications, variations, final accounts
• Experience dealing directly with main contractors, housebuilders, suppliers and manufacturers
• Experience in roofing, waterproofing, building envelopes or specialist subcontracting (a significant advantage, not essential)
• Experience on new-build residential developments (beneficial)

This is a senior appointment with real autonomy, so you'll need to work independently. We are not expecting a perfect match on every point.

Pay: £50,000.00-£75,000.00 per year
