About the opportunity

Instruct Construction Group Ltd has expanded, and we’re looking for an experienced roofer to work alongside our team on HMO conversions and residential renovation projects across Nottingham, Derby and nearby towns.

We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of roofing tasks, organise their work and deliver consistent progress with a high standard of finish. You should be comfortable working independently within your trade and coordinating with other trades to keep projects moving.

What you’ll be doing

• Domestic pitched roofing, including tile and slate repairs, replacement and finishing work.
• Roofing work on dormers, including tile hanging to cheeks and elevations.
• Dormer and external cladding, including cement or composite boards where specified.
• Flat roof repairs and installations on extensions, within your experience and competence.
• Ridge, verge, flashing and weatherproofing details.
• Fascia, soffit and guttering repairs and replacement where required.
• Accurate measuring, setting out and identifying material requirements.
• Coordinating with other trades and flagging issues early to avoid delays.
• Maintaining safe working practices, protecting the property and keeping work areas tidy.

What we’re looking for

• Proven experience in domestic roofing, particularly renovations and repairs.
• Ability to complete roofing tasks independently to a consistently high standard.
• An organised approach: plan ahead, work efficiently and meet agreed timescales while maintaining quality and safety.
• Strong attention to weatherproofing, alignment and finishing details.
• Your own van, a valid driving licence and suitable roofing tools.
• Ability to travel between sites across Nottingham, Derby and surrounding areas.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality and clear communication.
• Permission to undertake this work in the UK.

Useful qualifications and training

Relevant NVQ / City & Guilds qualifications, a CSCS card, asbestos awareness, working-at-height training and first aid training are welcomed. Practical experience and evidence of good workmanship are central to our selection.

Pay and working arrangements

• £215–£225 per day, with the rate agreed before starting based on relevant experience and skills.
• Monday–Friday, 7am–3pm, including paid breaks.
• Equivalent to approximately £26.88–£28.13 per hour over the eight-hour day.
• Monthly payment on a self-employed subcontract basis.
• Occasional Saturday work, typically 7am–1pm, with availability and payment agreed in advance.
