Commercial Roofer – Reactive & Project Maintenance

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Commercial Roofer to join our team, carrying out reactive maintenance, planned works and roofing projects across a range of commercial properties.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced roofer with broad knowledge of commercial roofing systems. The successful candidate must be confident working independently, accurately diagnosing leaks and defects, carrying out effective repairs and delivering larger roofing projects to a high professional standard.

Commercial roofing experience is essential. This is not a role for a general labourer or semi-skilled operative.

The role will predominantly cover Essex and Norfolk, with travel further afield.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate must have:

• Minimum 5 years' proven roofing experience, ideally within commercial maintenance and project works.
• Strong, demonstrable experience across a variety of roofing systems and materials.
• Excellent knowledge and practical experience of tiled roofing and liquid GRP/liquid roofing systems.
• Proven ability to trace, diagnose and resolve roof leaks and water ingress.
• Experience carrying out both reactive maintenance and planned/project roofing works.
• Confident working independently from a scope of works and taking responsibility for jobs through to completion.
• High standards of workmanship with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to identify underlying defects and recommend appropriate remedial works.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Own professional roofing tools and equipment.

Core Roofing Skills

You will be expected to be competent across a broad range of roofing works, including:

Reactive & Emergency Repairs

• Diagnosing and repairing roof leaks.
• Tracing sources of water ingress.
• Emergency and reactive roof repairs.
• Temporary and permanent leak prevention measures.
• Assessing storm and weather-related damage.

Tiled & Pitched Roofing

• Replacement and repair of roof tiles.
• Ridge and hip repairs.
• Flashing repairs and replacement.
• Leadwork and weatherproofing.
• General pitched roof repairs.
• Identification and repair of defective areas.

Liquid Roofing & GRP

• Liquid GRP/liquid roofing repairs and installations.
• Preparation and application of liquid roofing systems.
• Localised patch repairs.
• Identifying failures, defects and areas requiring remedial works.
• Completing installations and repairs to manufacturer and system requirements.

Flat & Commercial Roofing

• Experience across commercial flat roofing systems.
• Localised repairs and patching.
• Roof penetrations, outlets and detailing.
• Repairs through to larger roof refurbishment and renewal projects.

Rainwater Systems

• Gutter repairs and replacement.
• Outlet repairs.
• Downpipe and rainwater system repairs.
• Identifying blockages, defects and sources of water ingress.
• Ensuring effective drainage and water management.

Project & Planned Works

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake works ranging from minor reactive repairs through to larger roofing projects and complete roof renewals.

You must be able to:

• Assess the condition of a roof and identify the cause of defects.
• Determine the most appropriate repair or remedial solution.
• Work from scopes of work and project requirements.
• Complete works safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Identify additional defects or works required and provide clear, accurate reports.
• Communicate effectively with clients, site teams and project managers.
• Work alongside other trades as part of a wider project team when required.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a skilled, reliable and professional roofer who takes pride in their workmanship and can be trusted to represent the company on commercial sites.

You must be able to attend a site, accurately diagnose the problem rather than simply treat the symptoms, determine the correct repair and complete the work to a professional standard.

You will need to be comfortable working without constant supervision and use your own initiative when dealing with unforeseen issues.

A strong understanding of commercial buildings, roofing systems, water ingress and effective long-term repairs is essential.
