Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Steel Fixer (Sizewell Inducted) to join our dynamic construction team. This vital role involves assembling, installing, and securing steel reinforcement structures that form the backbone of large-scale building projects. As a Steel Fixer, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of our construction sites. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality results efficiently and safely, contributing to the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on significant developments while utilizing your specialized skills in steel reinforcement.

PLEASE NOTE: We're looking for Steel Fixers who are Sizewell Inducted.

Duties

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical plans, and specifications to accurately install steel reinforcement structures.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and shape steel bars and mesh using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to meet project requirements.
  • Securely tie rebar using appropriate techniques to ensure stability during concrete pouring processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to coordinate the placement of reinforcement within formwork according to safety standards and project timelines.
  • Operate heavy lifting equipment such as cranes or hoists for positioning large steel components safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and materials are stored properly for efficiency and safety.
  • Conduct routine inspections of installed reinforcement to verify alignment, spacing, and quality standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Steel Fixer or similar role within the construction industry, preferably on large infrastructure or commercial projects.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge related to steel fabrication, welding techniques, and the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of masonry, carpentry, roofing, heavy lifting procedures, and basic masonry skills is advantageous.
  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles or heavy machinery is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety protocols related to working with reinforced steel and construction site environments.
  • Physical fitness to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly and work at heights when required.
